† Amauropilio Mello-Leitão, 1937 is a genus of leiobuninae sclerosomatidae with 2 species from Oligocene of Colorado.
Type species[]
Phalangium lacoei Petrunkevitch, 1922, by original designation.
Species[]
- Amauropilio atavus (Cockerell, 1907)
- Amauropilio lacoei (Petrunkevitch, 1922)
Etymology[]
Greek αμαυρός (dim, faint, uncertain, obscure, unknown) + Opilio. Gender masculine.
Placement[]
Petrunkevitch (1922) admittedly used the genus Phalangium very loosely, only to represent either Opiliones or Eupnoi. Mello-Leitão created the genus Amauropilio and assigned it with doubt to the Leiobuninae. Staręga (1976) placed A. lacoei in the Gagrellidae. Cokendolpher & Cokendolpher (1982) placed it in Leiobuninae.
