Cynorta C.L. Koch, 1839 is a genus of the Neotropical family Cosmetidae, subfamily Cosmetinae with 153 species from northern South America, plus species from Mexico to Ecuador.

Synonymy[]

Cynorta C.L. Koch (1839): 20 was created to accommodate some of Perty’s species previously in Cosmetus. Much later, F.O. Pickard-Cambridge (1904) designated Cosmetus conspersus as the type species of Cynorta.
