Simon, 1879 p.199 writes: "Cette espèce est très-commune aux Antilles, le Muséum de Paris en possède de St-Domingue, et j'en ai reçu un grand nom- bre de l'Ile de la Tortue"
Henriksen (in Sørensen, 1932) (p.404-405) details some of the issues with nomenclature following the re-description, importantly, "I think it is most correct to regard those specimens which formed the base of Simon's description and of which one was given to Dr. SORENSEN, as the real type s of Simon's C. V-album . C. haitiensis must accordingly be regarded as a synonym, and a new name must be given to Banks' and Roewer's C . V-album"
