Dampetrinae Sørensen, 1886 is one of the oldest subfamilies of Assamiidae. It was a separate family, and first defined as a subfamily of Assamiidae by Roewer (1912c[1]).
It has 28 genera and 35 species, being thus the third most diverse subfamily of Assamiidae, behind Erecinae and Hypoxestinae. There are 24 genera from Indomalaya and 31 from Australasia.
Placement and composition[]
Placement and composition. Dampetroidae originally a monogeneric family on its own. Synonymized with Assamioidae by Sørensen (1896). Revalidated as a separate subfamily of Assamiidae by Roewer (1912c).
Included genera[]
Occurence of genera in more than one realm could be due to their non-monophyly.
