Nanophareus Roewer, 1929 is a genus of gonyleptid of the subfamily Pachylinae, endemic from Chile.
The genus was described by Roewer (1929)[1], in the subfamily Phareinae, and then was transferred to the family Stygnidae by Mello-Leitão (1940)[2]. Later, Kury (2003[3]) considers it as a genus of uncertain affinities within Gonyleptidae, and finally Hara et al. (2012[4]) assign it to the subfamily Pachylinae, based in a cladistic analysis.
Nanophareus has recently been reviewed by Hara et al. (2012[4]) and Hara (2016[5]), and include 6 species distributed in north-central Chile, from Bosque de Fray Jorge National Park (Region of Coquimbo) to the Rio Cipreses National Reserve (Region of O'Higgins).
