Icaleptidae are a neotropical harvestman family of the Suborder Laniatores, in the superfamily Zalmoxoidea.
Description[]
The specimens of the family are characterized by genitalic features and by the ventral insertion of legs IV, which gives the animal a flea-like habitus. They generally have dark yellow background with varied darker mottling.
Distribution[]
The family is endemic to the Neotropics. The two genera that compose the group can be found at northern Colombia and Ecuador.
Taxonomy[]
There are currently 2 genera with 2 species. Since its description, few were added to the taxonomy of the family. The closest related families are Zalmoxidae and Fissiphalliidae.
